Last updated: 5 April 2026

App: Student Swipe
Operator: Student Swipe

1. What Student Swipe is

Student Swipe is a mobile app for students to discover other studentsswipe on profiles, matchchat, and use campus-related features such as a map tied to universities or campuses. This policy explains what information we collect and how we use it when you use the App.

2. Information we collect

2.1 Account sign-in

If you sign in with Google (or another sign-in method we enable), we receive information that provider shares with us with your permission—typically including an account identifieremail address, and name—so we can create and secure your account.

2.2 Profile you build in Student Swipe

When you set up or edit your profile, we collect what you choose to provide, which may include:

  • Name and email address
  • University or campuscourseyear of study
  • Bioskills or interests, and preferences such as what you are looking for
  • Profile photo and additional photos you upload from your device

Photos are processed through our backend. They may be stored using Google Firebase (for example in Firebase Storage and/or stored in our database in a form needed to display them in the App, such as a secure link or encoded image data associated with your profile).

2.3 How you use Student Swipe (service data)

To run matching and social features, we process information generated by your use of the App, including:

  • Swipes and similar actions (e.g. who you have or have not interacted with for discovery)
  • Matches between you and other users
  • Messages and other chat content
  • Block or similar safety-related records where the App supports them

This data is stored in our systems so the App can work (show cards, matches, conversations, etc.).

2.4 Device location (optional)

Some features—such as showing your position on a map or campus-related views—may use your device’s location if you allow location access in your system settings. If you deny location permission, those features may be limited or unavailable. You can change or revoke location access at any time in your device settings.

2.5 Push notifications

If you agree to notifications where your device asks for consent, we may send push notifications (for example about new messagesmatches, or similar activity) using services such as Firebase Cloud Messaging. That involves associating a device token with your account so notifications can reach your device.

2.6 Technical information

We and our infrastructure providers may collect technical and diagnostic information, such as device type, operating system, app version, and error or stability data, to keep the App working, secure, and up to date.

3. How we use your information

We use the information above to:

  • Provide and operate Student Swipe (profiles, discovery, swiping, matching, chat, map-related features)
  • Authenticate you and protect accounts
  • Send notifications you have opted into
  • Improve reliability, fix bugs, and understand broad usage patterns
  • Enforce acceptable use, reduce abuse, and protect users
  • Meet legal obligations where they apply

We do not sell your personal information to data brokers in the ordinary sense of selling customer lists.

4. Who sees your information

  • Other users can see what you put on your public-facing profile (for example name, university, photos, bio, skills) and can interact with you through matching and chat according to how Student Swipe works. Messages you send in chat are visible to participants in that conversation as designed.
  • Service providers that host or support the App—principally Google through Firebase and related services (authentication, database, file storage, messaging, and similar)—process data on our behalf under their terms and security practices.
  • We may disclose information if required by law, or when we reasonably believe disclosure is necessary to protect rights, safety, or security (including other users’ safety).

5. Third-party services

Student Swipe relies on services that have their own privacy policies, including:

We encourage you to read those documents; they describe how Google handles data in connection with Firebase and Google accounts.

6. Retention

We keep your information for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide Student Swipe. If you delete your account or ask us to delete your data (see below), we will delete or anonymize it where reasonably possible, subject to legal retention needs and backup cycles.

7. Your choices and rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to accesscorrectdelete, or export personal data, or to object to certain processing.

  • You can update much of your profile inside the App where those controls exist.
  • You can turn off or limit location and notifications in your device settings.
  • For account deletion or other privacy requests, use any in-app option we provide and/or email us at the support address shown on Student Swipe’s Google Play listing (or, once published, your dedicated privacy inbox). We may need to verify your identity before completing deletion.

If you contact us, include the email address you use with Student Swipe so we can find your account.

8. Security

We use reasonable measures designed to protect your information. No app or internet service can guarantee perfect security.

9. Children

Student Swipe is not intended for children under 13, or for anyone below the minimum age required in their country for this kind of service. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under that age. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us using the same channel as in Section 7 and we will take appropriate steps.

10. International processing

We may process and store information in countries where we or Google / Firebase operate, including countries outside your own. Those countries may have different data protection laws. By using Student Swipe, you understand that your information may be processed in those locations as needed to run the App.

11. Changes

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version on this page and change the “Last updated” date. If changes are material, we may also notify you through the App or Play listing where appropriate. Continued use of Student Swipe after the update means you accept the revised policy, where the law allows.
